What is the difference between quartz and granite countertops?

Accepted Answer

Granite is a natural stone quarried in slabs, with unique veining in every piece and a periodic sealing requirement. Quartz is engineered from crushed natural quartz bound with resin, producing consistent patterns and a non-porous surface that never needs sealing. In everyday kitchen use neither material scratches under normal conditions. Granite generally costs less at entry level, while quartz offers lower maintenance.
